I have one but that's not for listening to music... it's a newer record player with USB connectivity for converting the records to digital audio. My parents have a large collection of records and I've converted the ones that interest me. If I was in your position I wouldn't buy a record player which fulfills no real purpose but being a conversation piece. Did you not get the soundtrack in any other format?
As for the percieved "better quality" of the LPs that some people freak out about... I think you'll really have to be born in the age of vinyl records to appreciate the difference. I feel it's a much more physical experience to hold and play back a big piece of vinyl, and for some people it might bring a pleasant nostalgia. But in the long run, I think it's not worth it. I'd choose a digital CD or good quality mp3 (not less than 192kbps though) anyday.

Yeps - so what do you think? Record Player seems nice...
But I'm kinda the type to really needs to think about his purchases you know?
I mean....my computer already plays music. But what makes records so special?
It's something I don't need but am curious about.
