Got in a car accident.

Posted by JakBaronKing - April 18th, 2011

I didn't get hurt, just a little fender.

Some old dude's surfboard broke my car mirror while I was driving.

LAW: If and object extends past your bumper, front or rear, it must have a red flag tied to the end of it. However, it is illegal if it sticks past either bumper by 4 feet. Otherwise a cargo bed is required. Objects must never go past the side of the car.

I was driving down the town road and this old dude's car was parked on the side.

His surfboard was sticking out about 4 feet than it should've INTO the freeway.

Traveling at 40 miles per hour....I couldn't see it in time.

And it clean cut off my side mirror.

And HE said...."You car dented my board!"

I used my mediative linguistic skills to convince him otherwise.

Guy kept on swearing his head off trying to make it seem like my fault.

And I was like...."Sir, you have your board sticking out into the freeway. I doubt that if it wasn't me, it would've been someone else. You're not suppose to have objects sticking out of your car like that where it becomes a hazard to other people. Had I had a passenger i the car and I was a little closer to the edge of the sidewalk, you could've had more trouble than just a broken side mirror on your hands."

He eventually lowered his tone, we shook hands and he apologized.

My first car-related accident and I think it went very smoothly.

Sure I don't like having to wait for my car to be repaired.

But accidents happen and 'will' happen and it's important to keep a level head in situations like this.
