AH I almost beat 20 days.

Day 19 is a swarm of Wizards.

How the heck are you suppose to get close enough to defeat them?

Well, seeing as the achievements range between killing the most Gnomes vs Surviving the most days....

I can break it down between two basic weapons.

The Poison Sword - for survival

Anything more powerful than your own sword but not so slow - for killing the most Gnomes.

What impressed me was the programing of the sprites.

Those little running things...the ones that ram you down mercilessly, I had trouble the first time but then I figured out to jump and swing my sword at the same time.

The Wizards are a bit overly powerful unless Larry can dodge their magic.

The weapons are essentially the same with your luck at choosing one right for you.

But the glitch appears that the "wave" of enemies do not appear fast enough.

After I defeat a "wave" I wait maybe a whole 15 seconds before another "wave" comes in.

A glitch?

Well...being a fan of Beat-Em-Up survival modes, I'm favoring this.

But if I could offer any new updates to this game...

-Larry could wield double weapons if they are small.
-Larry could upgrade his status, "STRENGTH, AGILITY, STAMINA, ETC." So he could actually USE those overly large weapons without slowing him down.
-Bosses?
-Shields, low attack, but high defense.
-Bombs?

Other than that, the game is satisfying, but I think it could be mixed up a little bit more.

Jazza responds:

thanks for the detailed review man

nice points, although we could have implemented some form of leveling system i decided against it, because it would take the focus away from the grunt of the game which is, attack like hell! we even removed the blocking we had made for it. i wanted everything from the game that could slow you down or make you get away from the action OUT.

also, this is just a minigame :) the main game is out monday

Very Surreal...

An alien creature comes to visit earth...befriending a family in the crisis of a war.

How giving and nobel such a stranger of a world where is presence is so accepted.

I get how this game is needed to be short. But I wonder if this can be re-created to be a much larger and in-deph story...

A concept where you can do more than just block enemies, but where you can transform and defend yourself and the people your protecting, pick them up and carry them to safety.

The ending works, but I wonder if this concept can be taken further.

Promise me you'll think about it.

acrazycanadian responds:

It could definitely be a much, much larger story with much more extensive gameplay. There are also other angles of the conflict to see, and further implications to what you choose to do.

But for now I have no funding and bills to pay, so I had to keep things small in scale. Just making this much was a big risk. It's a shame, but that's how it goes. Perhaps I'll get the chance to fulfill your request later.

An in depth look at the mind of Sabtastic

I like the V2 version of Mom, but the skull looks kinda funny. Like she has buck-teeth. And a spoon only emphasizes her being a home-keeper, which in my opinion doesn't do a wife of Dad justice. She needs a nasty looking weapon! A weed-wacker!

As I notice, you have been inspired by Disney, Nintendo, Fantasty, etc. The works!

But you know...I would really like to see some other styles of art aside from what is cool, anime, fantasy, or comic book super hero stuff.

Ever considered just drawing a kooky-lookin cartoon character? Every Canadian draws their cartoons with this traditional "Boiling-Outline" technique that was once so treasured at the Canadian animation film festivals.

All you do is take a brush pen and draw a goofy looking character.

The cool/sexy art is 'sinch' for you.

But versatility is key for every artist!

Eventually I would love to see sculptures and even paintings from you.

And besides, it's good for the soul to stray away from computer art for a few days and just chip away at a rock.

Surely this isn't your ENTIRE art collection. So keep this updated each year!

All this is fantastic art!

Sabtastic responds:

Hey, thanks man! (As usual)
You're always one to count on for great, helpful and interesting reviews. c:

I have to point out the fact that I don't have any means of references at work (which is where I drew these) so a lot of the work that I draw off the top of my head usually tends to be the generic stuff that I can draw in a "sinch". :P

...I'm pretty sure my boss would hate me if I brought my laptop to work all the time just so I could look up some diverse subjects to draw.. XD haha

Anyway! That aside, I really appreciate your input. Thanks for your advice!
Maybe I'll take a stab at subtractive sculpture one day.

Man...this one was a bit tougher than last.

It could just be my slow computer.

Timing the attacks is a bit unpredictable at times.

And Hank seems to fall slower than a feather under a blowing fan - making falling to avoid attacks a bit tricky.

It took me 2 tries before I could beat it in a wink. And another time to figure out how to win the remaining medals. (With the exception of the "Mercy" medal that seemed to bug on me.)

But other than that...the game shows promising features as...

"The precursor to future console games for casual players who enjoy killing things for absolutely no reason."

It's not so much the concept of it being a "platform-shooter"...

It's more of the art style and concept of characters that really bring out the demon inside players.

"DARK-VIOLENT-KILL-KILL-KILL!!!!!!"

With but a spruce of humor every now an then to bring players light-heartedness back.

....meow :3 ......"Oh Tom :D"

Following Alien Hominid, Castle Crashers, and Game 3.

I think it would be profitable and beneficial to Newgrounds to focus their next game around the "Maddness" Univerise.

Keeping the exact same Teams of people listed in the credits...

And making this game BIGGER, LONGER, FULL STORY, and....MORE explosions.

And it can be downloaded viva X-Box 360 Wi-Fi.

HOWEVER....

It's a great game but it still needs a few necessary adjustments.

1. The idea that you "automatically" pick up a weapon does really work.

You have the "D" key on the keyboard. Simply have that to pick up weapons of your choice. No ammo wasted or undesirable discarding of weapon.

2. I encountered a bug at the end. It loops after beating boss. Possibly because I managed to keep the Chain-Saw.

3. Falling and Recovering is slower than the AI's. It could just be my computer though.

TomFulp responds:

Thanks! It's killing me that the boss bug still seems to be there, assuming you weren't playing a cached version from around 2am. I was hoping to chilax after getting some sleep but now I dunno...

I've been curious to tinker with the gun pickups but I like to treat the game as total chaos... A smorgasbord of firepower where you just grab guns like a kid in a candy shop and blow through ammo. I worry that pressing a key to pick up a new weapon would throw people off in tight spots, when they just need ammo NOW. I'll have to experiment though... I think I play it different than a lot of people.

As for a Madness console game... I do think that would be neat!

Ha! Beat it!

This game was no match for "Me"

DIE you wimpy gremlin looking thingy!
He who hides behind a massive armored suit-is a tinsy winsy BABY!

Review:

Though the medals will be a bit of a challenge.

Tha ending animation was a bit sketchy. But I suppose nothing too well animated should be added. After all...this game must have ALLOT of programing.

This boss did take a good 10 minutes. But I eventually learned his pattern.

The fighting style looked as though you were inspired by Princess Peach and Wario from SSBB.

But all in all...it was a fun game.

MindChamber responds:

haha I knew you would kick this games ass! nice job baron., yes the ending wasn't supposed to be so sketchy but I had a harddrive crash and lost the original and had to make a new one from scratch in time for pico day.

im glad you had fun!

We get allot of pretenders here on NG

And if you are indeed from Adult-Swim.

Make a fuckin' commercial about it or something.

The game rocks as usual but still...we DO get pretenders here on NG.

AdultSwim responds:

Alright, despite some misgivings about your being the real JakBaronKing, we have decided to prove ourselves to you. Sometime tomorrow the name JakBaronKing will appear on the AdultSwim.com homepage. In exchange for instantly transforming you into a worldwide internet celebrity, we will be expecting a similar life-changing opportunity from you on the JakBaronKing.com media network.

Very...Cute

The Animal Crossing Music totally works ^_^ Glad you could find music to upload.
Finding each music to fit the theme of the character and event is easy if you know your Nintendo :D

For your first game...it was well constructed..thought out...humorous...and pleasant.

Nami-Tsuki responds:

Thanks! I put a lot of work into it ^^

Where did you get the inspiration to make this?

__________
Surely it wasn't because I asked you about Mermaids (in account to the Christmas Announcement).

But Overall...all I did was contribute one piece of art-work. But thanks for waiting for me.
__________

I gotta say...Monsters...are pretty cool to look at.

You might find yourself horrified by the very sight of them, yet at the same time...completely mesmerized by the sheer complexity or intricacy of the very mind of the artist.

Many of the art work YOU did DC...were by far...some of the most obscene, intriguing, and bizarre creatures I had EVER had the privilege to lay eyes on.

The monster I choose was the mummy. For some reason...I find the idea that a monster constantly bothering you is like how your life is...

You find yourself doing something you need to do but you don't do it...and the mummy wakes up to constantly pester you about your lack of accomplishments.

The mummy is personification of well..."Procrastination"

The "Unwillingness" to achieve, rectify, and seek to make things right in your life...or for the life of someone else.

I always thought that be the case for mummies...
__________

Review (Very WELL organized)

Though the text for the title of each monster and chapter was creative and stylish...it was also very hard to read.

But that differs from the point that the test adds the correct flare to the

"Book of Monsters".

Very GOOD Music. Matches perfectly.
__________

The "Book of Monsters"

The every day journal from famous explorers, and makers of their own death.
Learn Valuable information about creatures you may encounter.

__________

Book Review (5/5 stars) - a highly recommend read.

"It is not horrific looks that determines a monster...

For a human to call a creature that (he fears and cannot understand)...a "monster"....is a sign of ignorance and prejudice.

Hopefully this book will shed some light to "misunderstood" creatures that live with us. What to be aware of...and beware of...

For Cruelty...is the Core Truth...of a REAL monster.
Not how many heads it has.
For a Cruel Human...only has one head.

I suppose i'm a mummy myself, thanks for the very insightful review jak :-D

HAHA DUDE 5 Vote!

Just in time for Tom's Baby!

It's hilarious and weird...

Show this to Tom and I'm sure he'll get a kick out of it.
