Quite an artistic achievement...

It's very detailed.

To all you peeps out there...this is what is know as a "masking-based animation"

Meaning that the characters are outline free and filled only with color. A style invented in Japan during the early 20th century. It's soul purpose was it was to add visual effect.

You may have seen it used in "Samurai-Jack".

Now...as for this flash...I have to admit the animation was quite dynamic, detailed, and dramatic.

Such is a unique character like "Cripple Kane".

But...somehow I think he would be cooler if his peg leg attachment also doubled as a gun. Or even his whole spare leg could transform into a rifle.

Just throwing some ideas out there.

Good Job Hans...Good Job.

AlmightyHans responds:

thanks for the positive review.

It has a very Mark "Thurop" Van Orman feel to it.

Mark "Thurop" Van Orman is the creator and writer of "The Marvelous Misadventures of Flap-Jack".

The over all concept of a naive and childish character paired with a serious and seasoned character, as well as some of the humor displayed has a very similar feel to the cartoon show. But not too much...as the main focus of the show is intended to be cute and cuddly rather than down right ridiculous as seen in FlapJack.

It's appeal would best be fit for younger audiences, but with enough sprucing up and some violence here and there, it could very well appeal to older teens.

But...then again...it's good just the way it is...

jaxxy responds:

Thank you! It is actually intended for children, but I know newgrounders expect violence in most cartoons here. I'm glad a few people are willing to accept something different...even though teh character duo is old hat.

Very Impressive

Although you're 3-D animation has gotten me curious.

I would love to watch them in full - did you post them on Youtube?

With the large amount of animation you are able to pump out. I'll bet you'll be a great director of a future film.

Although I feel that you're little animation icon (at the end) of Wonchop eating a bowl of rice with chopstick is a bit too anime-ish. A style that has been dragged out too long and excessively (way too stereotypical)

Surely you could find a better representation of yourself that isn't Anime based? Perhaps drinking a cup of English Tea would suit my preference.

As for your animation demo - I am very impressed with your work.

Flash is difficult for beginners - yet you execute so many animations so frequently - there is no doubt you have what it takes to conquer the animation world.

Keep us all informed of all your ventures, struggles, and success in the near or far future.

Wonchop responds:

Yeah you should be able to find all my 3D experiments somewhere on my Youtube account. Personally, the bit I included was the only bit I considered good 3D.

OMG - the art presented in this flash is amazing!

It's easy for talented artists such as yourself to envision images and stories even from "just" music.

And that's exactly what you've done. I am amazed by your vivid imagination and talented visualization of music.

I'll bet with a small funding...this could make a pretty sweet music video. With 3-D computer animation and such.

Cuz this earns all 10 out of 10 for my vote.

Truly and Honestly.

AKS9 responds:

Thank you so much. Your words are very moving.. thank you.

Neh...a pleasant story - but too predictable.

It's not all that...original.

A neglected girl finds an unsual creature - done before
That creature is being forced for warfare - done before
The creature ends up saving his slaver - done done done before

Having a truly good story is hard sometimes since all the good ones have been done before.

Now...animation and art wise...this film is quite morbid yet expressive.

The black sillolette of the characters really helps bring the mood and emotions from each character as well as add a bit of mystery.

That earns high points.

But subtracts a large amount for pridictability.

A perfect children's book and short movie...but doesn't please an experienced and well varied connoisseur art such as myself.

Now don't trash this idea...it WOULD make a good selling Children's Book. Keeping all the art and such...but add some understandable dialogue.

The theme should be " why war is bad " or something.

Valerofond responds:

I didn't realise varied art connoisseurs visit newgrounds

This could even be considered in Tutorial Section.

Well Animated...and Well Informative.

The Top of the Flash Tutorial Section for newbie Flash Animators.

Just enough to tickle their funny bone and inspire...inspiration.

This is a flash that inspires inspiration.

Calicard responds:

Thanks!

Haha it would be a lesson in how a plot is necessary.

The thing I like about your art style DC....

Is that you somehow capture this...American/Anime-isk look.

The characters (notably female) are attractive...yet you exaggerate on body curves that is both realistic yet unrealistic. The male characters are tough and mean looking with huge indents in their faces. Quite similar to a re-vamp of Monkey Sensei's work Lupin. (Aka: Monkey Punch - Lupin III)

This flash has a HELL of allot of work. But an eye who has tasted fine animation will note where you were sloppy and took a few short cuts.

Some of the character's movements were a quick loop. Meaning it moves forwards...them plays again backwards. With the music...it's barely noticeable...

But because this flash was so fuckin' long - I can see where a few short-cuts might be necessary.

For Mark's music....this was a song I actually enjoyed...though his intense vocabulary will either be his success in the music business or his downfall.

d-z responds:

Another insightful review, thanks Jak, i see the shortcuts didn't escape your eyes. It is quite long....

not bad - not bad

You're animation skills to match with sound effects and voices is just a "bit" off at some parts.

But other than that...this is starting to look like an interesting series.

LOL - That's exactly what I had in mind for Red Baron.

Dude-again-don't worry. Whenever I have a great idea...I write it down and lock it away. Once you're skills in animation have improved to it's highest potential. You can pull out those stories and work on them again.

And...since it's summer break. You might be interested in taking an animation school at a community college. There isn't a law that high-schoolers can take some college courses. (or is there...) But point is...I can see how strong you're visions are and you capturing of the famous Super Hero Motif.

And I'm so glad that I was able to appear as a cameo for your' series.

I hope that Spark-Boy and Red Baron will appear in more series later on.

8 / 10

Hey - it be patronizing if I just gave you a 10. But If you really want to get good at animation...and I mean...wickedly good at animation. It'll take some discipline, hard-work, and daily dedication. But hey...who said it had to be hard? An hour a day can make a big difference in the long run.

Good Job!

beastkid7 responds:

Thanx a lot man! I appreciate the 8 and I appreciate even more why its not a 10.

(O_O) . . . . .

I really don't understand the whole purpose of all of this slew of animation/suggestive ideas about Rina and Kirb/and plain and painful idiocy of flash cartoons about Brawl.

Is it possible...that this is a stragety to ween people off the "Obsession" of Brawl taunts...and possibly allow Rina and Kirb to get some relief from the constant bickering of 13 year old who whine and complain about "Why isn't there a sequel" or some shit like that...

Truth be told...I never seen videogames being taken to such a high degree of obsession and persistence.

But what do I know....I just live on an Island practically isolated from the whole world. I
could care less about Brawl and simply play for fun.

The jokes are okay for the first 2 parts...but the rest was an obvious statement that well..."Enough is Enough"...and I couldn't agree more.

In life...you see the players of Brawl
You see these guys and their..."OBSESSION" to be the best at brawl...
Constantly reminiscing jokes from Braw Taunts - it gets old.

The Flash...by far...is the biggest statement about the decline of Videogames and the livelihood of human beings of video-games and reality.

Things will be praised simply by who submitted it.
As noted by the Ass-kissers in some reviews."SOME"

But i digress - NG is famous for this kind of art - Provocatively Pleasing to the Public.

It's whole purpose is to offend. And you guys did a pretty damn good fuckin' job.

CoolDrMoney responds:

Dam my hands are smelly today

A Bit late for Pico Day...

But still funny.

Animation still a bit choppy...but still it is well animated.

SkoolCool responds:

It wasn't for Pico Day, but thanks.
