See! this could be a show!

Dexter's Lab has always been a unique series for early cartoon network series.

But a semi-love-drama-comedy series could be popular.

If not-using old-school characters will just emphasize the nostalgia for older viewers. Canadian TV shows with more 'mature' content has become popular on Tv, why not old school classics?

I know Bleedman tried that for his manga version. But I honestly feel it's too Japanese-sy.

This style of masking-based art is what really emphasizes the style of animation art.

And you NAILED it. it's clean, it's sophisticated. It's appealing.

A style of art that isn't stress out enough for the viewing pleasures of the world.

I would suggest following a plan of character sheets. Front View, Side View, Back View, Action Poses, etc.

Then backgrounds.

You have what it takes to make it in the animation world. Or at least a conceptual artist for one.

Genndy Tartakovsky is a great artist. But I feel he sold his soul for Star Wars.
Bleech.

-------

Aside from that - You have a crush on smart boys don't cha? You like Braniacs!

PixelCake responds:

I don't know about being a concept artist, I still have a lot to learn with proportion, backgrounding, perspective and how to draw different emotions and poses but I'm extremely flattered that you like my art as it is now.

I would really love a job in the cartoon industry, I originally wanted to be a voice actress but I never took classes or anything like that. I always did art as a hobby but it seems now that I can do more with it and I probably will; it just depends on what the future has for me. Thank you so much for the review :)

I was always a computer vector / sumi-brush man

I could never master shading by means of pencil or charcoal.

It takes real delicate finger-tips to be able to dedicate control when it comes to the shading of objects and animals.

What's your skills with the brush I wonder? Ever attempted the ancient Japanese way? I did - and it really bothered me whenever I messed up.

I find the greatest thing in an artist is - Versatility.

I see allot of computer generated work. And it's work like this that proves to me that there is more to you than what can be produced through a vector program.

You should submit pictures of portraits you've painted or even sculptures.

Work by Graphite, Zero's n One's, Paint, and Clay - the versatility of an artist proves her value and talents to herself.

nalem responds:

Ok!

I got a nice bust I sculpted last year. I should put it up. Painting? I'm not so great with.

You know...my favorite artist Danny A.

once told me (via: email) that allot of artist actually envision themselves or a part of themselves through all of their characters - male or female characters.

All the Ed's in his cartoon series are actually "minorities" of himself. Yes - Ed being Mentally Spacious, Edd being Inquisitive, and Eddy being a cocky know it all.

Would you say you do that for yourself and all your characters?

And so far - I'm seeing a set pattern of character personalities about you perhaps?

Isabela - you tend to become disheartened at times.
Mercedes - you tend to be haughty to those who are unpleasant towards you.
Miguel - if all is right with your world, even self humiliation does not defer your happiness.

-------

A nice and pleasant drawing. A lovable oaf to say the least. I get the impression that he is full of heart.

nalem responds:

Wow. Kudos to the acknowledgement. It's very flattering that you noticed!

Yes, they all do share a bit of my own self in them. Perhaps not as you think, but they do.

When creating a character, you make them relatable. Who else better to relate them to than yourself? You don't know anyone else better than yourself. A bit of my friends are also in each of them. College is a great place to meet a lot of various and interesting people which can help out a lot with character development.

Thanks for the comment! I'm glad you like it!

I can see the scales - a real fish scan?

So - this real life encounter for this person. A confederate man meets a swamp monster alien? And then Ass-Rapes him with knife? Must taste like chicken.

It's a new twist to the slasher/monster genre - where the real victim is the monster and the antagonist is the drunken hill-billy.

It's horrifying but funny - cause the roles of calamity seem to switch.

But I can see his penis - should it really have an "E" rating? I'm sure that was just an oversight when submitting. :D

MindChamber responds:

HAhaha whatever.... fixed :3

You killed your Betta Fish in 2 days?

Maybe try goldfish next time. They tend to be hardier as long as you follow a strict criteria.

I'm kinda an expert already on goldfish.

It's a nice picture. But 2 days!? I'm questioning your methods of feeding.

PixelCake responds:

The petland I bought my fish from is notorious for selling sick pets and passing them off as fine. I had a clean tank and everything for him. He got this really bad fungus growing on him overnight. It happened so fast that it looked like he was half-eaten two days later and yes he was alone in the tank and no he wasn't caught in a filter or anything like that

With all due respect though if you want to talk about my fish and not the picture you could PM me ;)

This is incredible work!

I got to get me a wacom tablet too!

The Red Baron is one of Newgrounds' least known characters. But the reputation of Mindchamber making 'difficult' games was earliest expressed in this particular title.

But there was something else I really appreciated about this character. He's just so damn cool!

Thank You for making this amazing piece of fan art.

You have incredible talent as an artist. I hope you become a pro some day and get your stuff published and become famous like Frank Miller.

Cuz you can create some pretty bad-ass work!

AWESUM - Goldfish Robots

He does kinda looks like something I've seen before...like that earth-worm jim guy but this one is still original enough.

(On a personal note: I love goldfish so this image strikes a love nerve <3)

The series was pretty good for a stick animation..

And should anyone have their cartoon characters re-envisioned.

They would call on you. Much props for your work as well as Robert DenBleyker for the series.

It looks good!

(On a personal note: I feel that it would look more dynamic if the shadings in his muscles were 'really' dark. Like almost black-blue? It would add this dark and ominous look to a zombie - rather than a possible Alien Homid roster character.)

MindChamber responds:

I agree about the shading, thanks for the review!

I wonder if you can make an animated series...

without getting sued.

Is copyright loopholes as simple as changing a few names, character looks, and story?

Cuz if this was a TV show, I'd definitely watch it.

Because it'll deal with the harsh realities of life and how a loser deals with them.

remember that song?

Capturing the look of Shultz isn't difficult, but adapting it to a style that seems appealing is difficult.

And you've earned high marks for that.

Out of all the Charlie Brown parodies...this makes the most sense.

A Loser that is always getting picked on.

He's basically who Charlie Brown would be if he existed in this generation.

AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW<3

It's just....so.....AWWWWWWWW <3

Shame this didn't win the Calendar contest.

But hey...when I told Tom about this...his heart just melted! And immediately emailed it to his wife.

Whatever lack of sleep you didn't get...it was totally worth it.

beastkid7 responds:

Yeah it waz!!! Man this is what I do art for responses. People liking my art makes my heart melt ...like Butta. lol
