This game is evil....but in a good way.
The Brother's Grim fairy tales have always been morbid.
For it's century of original publication....it was probably the equivalent of horror to them as this Flash is for us today.
It is creatively creepy, perfect for around this holiday around October.
Though a few bugs still remain, it hasn't stopped me from wanting to get every medal as possible.
I LOVE how you've HAND PAINTED practically every scene and character with water color.
The game pulls you in as if your playing an actual story book and not some cheesy flash game for kids on some TV station website.
The story amazingly tells itself with absolutely NO dialogue. That's quite a challenge. God watching the flashback of that poor woman....was SO COOL! And I normally don't like horror film moments but that was killer cool!
Creative use of items also enhance the enjoyment as do the characters....
Though I do not recall a "Tea Tree Goblin, Ice Witch, Fairies, or Mimic Men" from the original Hansel and Gretel, I do enjoy these horrific turns of events for our poor little heroine.
I especially love the morality choices you can make that often results in a gruesome death. But you got rid of Gretel's evil face after killer her brother in a variety of ways. Probably for the best. She need to portray her acts as innocent accidents of curiosity.
I REALLY hope you'll continue other forms of Brother's Grim tales with the same intensity of creepy art, story, and clever point and click puzzles.
There's a future in games like these that I am grateful that I can play for free for now on Newgrounds.
I hope you'll make games like these professionally with as much creative control as you shown today.
No restrictions for future titles. Go all out on the morbidity!
Seriously...we love it.
