FINALLY beat it.

Holy fuck man that ending was hilarious!

You've literally compiled some of the best the NES had to offer back then.

Quite challenging! Took me three tries in three days.

----SPOILERS BELOW *(Do not read unless you really have trouble beating the game)

Hints:

Double Dragon Stage - It helps to position yourself 'slightly' above your opponents so you can hit their heads.

Mario Ocean Stage - Swim up, Swim down...makes it easier to avoid enemies.

Zelda Stage - Don't destroy all the enemies unless you have to. They often will fill up your rage meter and your hearts if you revisit a room.

Balloon Stage - Save your RAGE against difficult obstacles.

WWF Stage - Use up all the chairs and just keep button mashing. Constantly throwing Amazon on the ground.

Megaman Stage - Don't go crazy with the gun.

Contra Stage - It's fairly easy once you've entered the 'secret' code. But the best weapon of choice against Kirby is the shot gun.

Punch Out Stage - Dodge first, then punch. Save your RAGE for the second stage.

Got some awkward controls for computers...

But would be PERFECT as a DSi download game.

Or even the iPad or iPod.

A slight graphic update 'might' be needed. I would prefer to see this in 3D.
But that would also make it really expensive.

However I am hooked on the defense game-play. My only complaint is that enemies don't give you enough scrap.

The freedom to choose your turrets are limited because of this. Difficulty levels should include stronger enemies but scrap is important to keep in surplus. The strategy can be primarily based on 'position, trapping, flanking, and camping'.

You are strong, but they are strong in numbers! Luckily you have enough supplies to build your arsenal, the problem is...can you get to place safely without getting flanked.

Weapons and devices to allow distraction would be a great update. It should be more like a capture the flag feeling. Getting 'touched' should be disastrous!

I get it now...

These creatures were once human.

Is it so easy for us to cast aside what was once our brothers and sisters?

Do we try and treat them or exterminate them?

I'm very passive in the approach to my research and Im surprised, through the zombie is half dead and craving meat and death, I still have attained a small amount of humanity. Somewhere inside is a brain, and even a half working brain means there is still a human being inside.

*HOWEVER!!!

The means to attain these goals is repetitive and slow. I really wish there was a way to speed up the pace of getting new items for your zombie to interact with.

An incredibly challenging dungeon crawler!

With a random dungeon generator, the replay value is amazing!

And with the power ups being just as random and unknowing of their abilities only entices my curiosity even further.

The Christian Homicide theme will come to question and upset a few. But truthfully, that sorta thing has made the News. And as such, instills a sense of real danger and fear.

Are you running from divine destiny? Are you really a demon child? (as some powerups suggest). What will become of Issac?

Download from Steam to find out :3

*(Although because my Steam isn't working, will it be on Xbox Live soon?)

Was never a fan of the Assassin games

I always felt that people who enjoy these games too much are conditioning themselves to being more violent than they should be.

In my opinion, these games are just so tasteless. And the fact that this is a children's cartoon character disturbs me.

Although to each their own right?

However, if I was to judge this for quality, it's rather sloppily done in terms of mechanics and graphics.

Hm. It might make a great DSi download game!

Since all the commands are touch and click based.

With enough work, it might even feature 3D effects for the 3DS!

The intro and story scenes could even be animated one day!

Great work guy!

Nicely done.

Although that dragon battle was just a little too long.

But now that you have all these sprites, you can share them amongst other programers and other great games will emerge soon enough.

Newgrounds might need to have a MLP collection page for this new and endearing series.

A bit short, but open to sequels and new forms of gameplay.

Can you imagine that...2 months of work = 10 minutes of gameplay.

Jay6 responds:

I was basically the only guy working on the whole project... as for the sprites, they're made by Desktop Ponies contributors. You can download Desktop Ponies here: http://desktopponies.co.cc/ (you'd have to break the gifs into individual images yourself though)

However, I am helping work on a very different game with SC (I mentioned his name in the credits). It'll take a while to work on, and I need to be a bit more motivated for it. That game will be a much larger game... I'm mainly working on the graphics and animations for it (and some designs). It's the main game I was supposed to be working on other than this one. XD

PAPER DOES NOT HAVE AN UNDO BUTTON...

So I really appreciate the artists who still do artwork on paper.

The feel of paper just cannot be replaced.
It's one of those things that'll never age.

Awesome pics and babes Sab. lol - scyther.

What else are you into? Perhaps you should explore other forms of media entertainment. Cause so far, all I see is L4D, Pokemon, Original Characters, and so forth.

BTW - does 'Canuck' mean "Canadian" + "Knucklehead"?

:P

In a sense, it's a better version...

But it is lacking in a few potential qualities and abilities.

I am glad the enemy are outer space aliens instead of other humans.

A war that's been going on for ages...till the final evolution of humanity. I am also glad you kept the culture pretty much the same. The original idea you posted seemed to clash that you start off as a cavemen in one generation and then evolve into romans the next followed by samurais.

I am VERY upset that your base is left exposed to the aliens the MOMENT you evolve. I remember the old version...I kept my egg-launcher till the end.

Your bases and turrets should remain there even when you evolve. It doesn't make any sense that the special-powers you use are from old-ages and the bases have to be cleared.

I don't know if money is earned by killing, but that should be the key factor of the victor.

However, it seems that the only way you can win is to spam out special powers and that just kinda makes it less fun. Despite having the upper hand with fully upgraded base at the end, it made no difference.

Those special powers are a cheap shot.

Not a bad game man!

It works really well with headphones.

Although it would seem better if the placements of the turrets could be more strategic. So far, it seems like I'm depending on symmetry, patterns, and desperate clicking of the bombs to survive hard mode.

It seems like you have to know ahead of time where the notes are coming from in order to place the right power ups.

Now..if the pathway was more maze-like going up and down like music usually does, then the turrets could be placed in accordance to the powers.

For example...certain turrets would be more effective against high-notes where as land-mine bombs would be more effective on low sounds. Etc. Etc. A different turret for the different levels of sound.

Think about it....you may have to redesign the gameplay.

Because I think my idea is better :3
