It's kinda a boring game

The real enjoyment was the witty dialogue after beating each boss.

Sure there's a speed-run after beating it the first time but it seems rather pointless non the less.

It's a game...where you...inventory items?

Now I know Newgrounds is great for sponsoring and encouraging new ideas.

But...I'm not really convinced this is a fun game.

But as a team-effort to exercise a Flash-Game with beautiful details, art, and proper gameplay fundamentals in a short amount of time...YES! You've succeeded. You've executed a plan quickly and successfully.

Though...once is all done, the final product is kinda...bland.

It scores HIGH points for the art, voices, and gameplay mechanics, just the actual game itself is...boring.

GENIUS MAN!

This is what I love about Indi-Games.

This is why I love Newgrounds!

This is why I've stopped playing my Xbox so I could play more NG games!

You sir, just made my day! I hope you make allot of money off this gaming concept.

This would totally work as a DSiWare game.

Nutcasenightmare responds:

Thanks so much for the encouraging words! Who knows where else Gap Monsters might go to?

A very challenging game with meaningful insight

There are games where you shoot people...and there are games where you solve puzzles.

Given the 'Heaven" theme. The player is forced to take their time and reflect on the story unfolding out to them.

Because of the slow pace and scenic background, It's a rare opportunity to prevent distractions that we experience in other games, and contemplate on our own lives.

Although, I have some gripes with the controls.

I wish with such a game, flying would be more free. The three flaps gets a little too challenging especially near the end. But the problem is the slow moving gliding. I was kinda hoping to find someplace high, and like Kid Icarus from SSBB, just glide down fast like an eagle.

An exhilaration of freedom should be a compromised if a person managed to complete each stage successfully. Like make it a bonus stage to collect memories.

Just popping off some ideas.

Great game overall,

Each power-up makes replay more interesting. Though it can get a little boring sometimes.

Boy...this...is....boring.

With that being said...it's too bad "BasV" never finished this game.

Because you SHOULD!

It had a captivating animation intro and musical score.
But the game's programing seriously needs work.

If you got his permission, couldn't you just have someone else code it?

_____

Bugs and little annoyances:

-Off-kiltered aiming.

-This is suppose to be a turret yet those soldiers still keep firing as if nothing hit them earlier. Add some logic to your weapons and enemies. You have a machine gun! Shooting in the head should result in instant kill.

-A 'slightly' better looking gun would be nice. It looks weird.

_____

Suggestions

-Snipper Rifle Attachment.
-Rocket Launcher Attachment.
-etc.

You've played plenty of defense games to know what should be in a defense game.
:P

I can just imagine how this game....could've BEEN!

AlmightyHans responds:

i don't think you realized that the crosshairs arent where the bullets hit. the white spot that follows is where the bullets are hitting. this is something i told bas to change a while ago but he never did. you can see bullets deflecting off the ground from the source of the delayed white spot that follows. the idea of this is to create the feeling that the turret is heavy. try playing it again with that in mind. and the reason why i uploaded this is because he didnt let me have the files so someone else could finish it

A future 3DS game!!!

With some fine tuning and programing conversion...

This could make a fun Download game for either the 3DS.

You could improve the graphics to enhance 3D graphics.

The only thing I would suggest is an improvement on the overall power ups.
-Some seem overly powerful and have undesirable effects.
-EX: The Flash Grenade should only affect a lighter amount of screen visibility. Say only the area where the grenade was thrown.
-The Guns in general need less ammo given that the stage is too small.
*(Unless you can find a way to increase the stage size.

Think about it?

a 3DS game downloaded!

Would this game look so cool with the 3D effect?

And with it's wireless feature, you can play anyone randomly online or with friends.

Well...not that I don't like where your going....

But....'where' are you going with this?

How am I suppose to build a proper matching robot if I don't know what the robot's suppose to look like!?

Also, it's kinda a pain having to accurately grab pieces flying and bouncing, you've got a nearly perfect match and BOOM, you mess up the whole thing desperately trying to reclaim your arm only to misplace the head and torso.

It's a very unstructured game overall.

DieterTheuns responds:

The main goal is to find out how the robot's are structured in the first place. We made you drop your piece when you pick up a replacing one so you have a second chance to pick it up and don't lose it immediately. Thanks for the review though. We'll take it into mind next time. We also recommend using full-screen. It lets you see the parts in greater detail, making it easier.

Great Pony tribute.

Fun and haunting to play!

I was not sure what to expect. But I loved how the game turned out.

A little bit more complexity can be a down-fall.

Part of the joy of your game is the relaxation and observance of the scenery.

Since I'm constantly worrying about hitting targets properly, I miss out on taking in all the wonderful artwork as I am timed before doors close on me.

The controls were just a tad awkward and the gameplay somewhat tedious. Easter Egg hunting games is fun for some, but not always for me.

Visual pleasing and wonderful music. It deserves high points. But ease up on the Easter Egg Collecting. Also the programing of the grappling arm could use some fine-tuning.

Basically a "Limbo" clone

It was artsy and the music played well. But this has been done before to a much better degree.

And the ending serves no real purpose at all.

I was kinda expecting you'll continue as an old man and die.

The programing was all that great either.

CloudEater responds:

I agree, the programming was all that great.

How much of this is true?

I doubt the name Newgrounds was existing during that time. I always assumed it was a altered name to Tom's favorite company "Neo-Geo" which literally translate into Newgrounds.

Fact: ColecoVision is a REAL game system.
Fact: George Plimpton was involved with the early development of video-games.
Speculation: Video Falconry is probably not a real title.
Speculation: The commercial was cleverly fabricated with a talented voice actor and specialized video editing.

Hard game! REALLY hard, but oddly fun to play.
Gonna take some practice getting use to the controls.

Judging by the original controls of the ColecoVision system, you use a "Number Pad" plugged via USB port, it'll probably simulate it perfectly!
